When finishing a level, get the second of the two flags, and you'll keep your record collection through to the next level. If you take the umbrella on level 2 while holding a box, it will last longer that usual (inside you!).

Solution to Level 1:

There are three boxes that can be collected and thrown. Take one, launch it at the police officer before he can turn around and shoot back. Once you have disposed of the aggressive law inforcer, return to pick up another box. Run along, keeping a watchful eye out for the rampant trolley that rolls about outside the hi-fi shop. Blast it with your box!
Return again to collect the third and final box from the bunch. Use this to destroy the other trolley outside the next shop along from the hi-fi store. You can enter this shop to gather some records. Remember, collect enough records and you gain an extra energy heart.
Easy so far. Outside one of the shops should be another box. You can now take this box and throw it at the policeman to the far right, near the stairs. If everything has gone to plan, all and sundry will now have been destroyed on the lower floor.

Take the box at the top of the stairs that leads from the lower floor to the second floor. Use this to rid the raging trolley from your path. Keep running. Jump up onto the ledge at the top of the three stairs. If you didn't stop the thug will have missed you.
Collect the records, then run off to the left. BEWARE OF THE TRIGGER-HAPPY COPPER! Avoid the officer and duck into the music store. Lo and behold, you should find your precious guitar lying there. Take it, leave, and run to the left then up the stairs.
Grab a balloon and float into the records. Edge to the right to avoid the floor/ceiling. Collect as many records as you can, move right.
When your balloon bursts, you want to aim for the high platform to the right, near the lift shaft. Wait for the lift to arrive which will allow you to walk to the other side. Don't worry about the water, you swim like a fish. The tiddler in the water is harmless. Avoid the question mark as it deducts points. You don't need to take the box that's sitting on the other side of the second tank.

Let the conveyor belts carry you along for a while. On the third belt, run to the left and through the wire mesh tunnel. At the end of the tunnel is an energy heart. Jump over to collect it, trying to fall through the records as you descend. Now run to the right and drop onto the lower walkway. Take a box and launch it at the bad guy who mindlessly runs from left to right. Grab hold of the other box and run to the right. As soon as you see the woman on her own, quickly throw the box to kill her.
Duck down once the box id thrown just in case she managed to throw something back at you before being bumped off the screen.
Ascend to the elevator. Take a box and continue to ascend. Dispose of the policeman. Descend to take the last remaining box, go back up until you reach the exit that leads out into the open air. Quickly kill the officer with your box and proceed left.

Dash to the left until you reach the tree, being careful to jump over the two pitchfork-wielding farmers. Bound to the top of the tree. Use a box to kill the egg-dropping bird - jump and then throw.
Take any of the umbrellas from the tree. You can leap from left to right upon the large clouds. Once you reach the cloud with two boxes, there are three options: Firstly, take a box and kill the bird that's flying about the area. Secondly, keep jumping to the left in hope that the bird misses you with it's eggs. Thirdly, wait on the cloud next to the boxes and try to prod the bird with your brolly - this will kill the bird instantly. Now travel as far right s possible. Collect as many records as you can until you eventually hit the floor. Walk to the flag, and, hey you'll see the light that'll take you to the second level!
